MIRPURKHAS: Revenue officials asked to inspect rain losses survey

MIRPURKHAS, July 14: Revenue Department officials have been directed to perform their duties diligently and honestly, and inspect the survey work of last year’s rain loss conducted by Mukhtiarkars.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Chairman District Relief Committee Mirpurkhas Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani gave the directives while presiding a meeting of the committee on Saturday.
The meeting was held to review the survey of last year’s rain and attended by the DCO Mirpurkhas Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, taluka and UCs nazims and officials of the Revenue Department.
Shabbir Kaimkhani said the aim of meeting with taluka nazims and union council nazims was to consult them in survey.
Losses of up to Rs7 million were reported in the district due to last year’s rains he said and informed of making recommendations to the federal government to waive off agriculture loan up to Rs100,000 of small farmers.
The meeting approved the survey report presented by the Revenue Department officers and decided to distribute relief funds once these were received among deserving people in consultation with taluka and union council nazims.
Shabbir Kaimkhani asked the taluka and union council nazims to return back pumping and fumigation machines which had been given to them on behalf of the district government Mirpurkhas.
He said during the last year's rainfall, relief goods were not distributed properly.
The DCO Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah told the meeting that revenue officials in consultation with the UC nazims prepared losses report.
Taluka nazims called for declaring Jhuddo and Digri talukas as calamity-hit areas as both sustained huge losses and release of funds immediately so that people could construct their katcha and pacca houses.
