UPPER DIR: Posts for women constables remain vacant

UPPER DIR, July 3: No woman applied for the eleven positions reserved for women constables, as recruitment of 240 police was completed here.

Applications for 229 men and 11 women police constables were invited but not a single female candidate applied. Those who were between 18 and 30 years of age were eligible to apply.

In all 389 candidates applied for the positions advertised, all of them men.

Physical fitness tests were conducted on July 1, in which 34 candidates did not appear while 20 others could not qualify. Three hundred and thirty-five of the applicants made to the next phase of the recruitment process.

On July 2, screening tests for 335 candidates were held at Dir Stadium in which one candidate was absent while 35 applicants could not qualify.

Interviews of the 299 eligible candidates were conducted, in which all of them were declared successful.

A team of the National Accountability Bureau monitored the whole process.
