Delay in relief operation criticised

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, July 1: President of the People’s Party Parliamentarians in Balochistan Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani has criticised the delay in relief and rescue operations in flood-hit districts and alleged that the government had completely failed in helping the survivors of the calamity.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, he claimed that around 250 people were killed and thousands of people were displaced by the devastation but the government had not utilised its resources to help the victims.

He said his party had dispatched relief goods to150 families in Bolan on Sunday, adding that more goods would be sent to affected areas after reopening of roads.

Mr Raisani accused the government of intentionally delaying the relief work.

He said if the government had resources to use helicopters in military operations against innocent people than why could it not use the same helicopters for helping the victims.

He expressed resentment over the government’s lukewarm behaviour to the affected people and said the government was not fulfilling its responsibility.
