KARACHI: Probe into lawyers’ FIR yet to begin

By A Reporter

KARACHI, June 13: The Karachi Bar Association (KBA) on Wednesday accused police of not keeping their words on initiating the investigation into some of the May 12 incidents.

The Zone-III was to initiate the investigation on Wednesday into the allegation of the involvement of Muttahida Qaumi Movement leaders and the Sindh government in an armed attack on lawyers’ rally.

KBA General Secretary Naeem Qureshi said the police officials concerned had promised to kick off the investigation but they did not even contact any KBA leader for the purpose.

“They are deliberately doing so from the very beginning,” he alleged.Mohammad Arif Hanif, who is said to lead the investigation team, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.

The investigation had originally been assigned to the DIG Zone-I but considering the KBA’s reservations over the team’s credibility, the task was transferred to the Zone-III.
