KARACHI: Young man shot dead in Korangi

KARACHI, June 11: A young man was shot dead and his two friends were wounded when unknown persons opened fire at them in Korangi’s R-Area on Monday night.

Police said the victim and his friends were sitting somewhere in R Area when gunmen on a motorcycle arrived there and sprayed them with bullets.

The victims were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital, where Saeed was pronounced dead. His one associate, Irfan, was admitted for treatment there and their third associate was taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

Police said Saeed was the son of a woman known as ‘Shabbo’, who allegedly runs a betting business in the area.

GUNNED DOWN: Police gunned down a bandit, who had deprived a labourer of some petty cash, near Site telephone exchange on Monday night.

Site TPO ASO Sohail Zafar Chattah said two bandits snatched Rs120 from a labourer, who was returning home after work, and sped away on a motorcycle. Following the incident, some eyewitnesses drew the attention of policemen who were patrolling in the area.

The policemen chased the bandits who shot at them. The fire was returned killing one of the bandits. However, his accomplice escaped.

The bandit was later identified as Punal, a resident of Memon Goth, Malir. Police recovered a TT pistol, the looted money and an identity card.
