LAHORE, June 7: Senator Enver Baig has urged the chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly Malik Allah Yar to hold a complete financial audit of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from the period of 1999.

In a letter written to the PAC chief on Thursday, the senator, who is also a member of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports, says: “I bring to your kind notice a matter of great public importance concerning the audit of the PCB.”

“There are numerous voices accusing the PCB of misusing funds at the name of promoting cricket,” he said. “If the same trend continues I am afraid the PCB coffers will be finished. Therefore, I request the accounts of the PCB since July 1999 should be scrutinised and audited by the auditor general Pakistan,” the senator said.

“It is also pertinent to mention that constitution of the board has been under suspension since July 1999, thus the board is being run arbitrarily by the chairman ad hoc committee and during the Senate Standing Committee meetings much has been talked about grave misuse of the board’s funds.

“It is, therefore, requested in public interest that necessary action should be taken,” the senator said while concluding the letter.
