ISLAMABAD, June 3: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sher Afgan Niazi has said that the assemblies will complete their tenure on Nov 15, after which an interim set-up will be put in place.

“The Election Commission will then be asked to hold elections within 60 days in accordance with the Constitution. Thus the date for the next general elections falls on Jan 15, 2008,” the minister told APP.

He said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would hear all speeches on the budget in the National Assembly.

The budget session is expected to be called on June 6.

Replying to a question about the issue of quorum, Mr Niazi said all the ruling party members had been asked to ensure their presence in the house.

“Unless someone is seriously sick, no one will be allowed to remain absent from the house or go abroad,” he said.—APP
