KARACHI, June 3: Three-year-old bay colt Dream Rose marked his comeback after a lengthy layoff with a facile three-length victory to claim feature event in the Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

With two wins under his belt, the colt led from the front, beating joint favourite filly Sweet Smile with ease to complete a hat-trick. Filly Stormy Kiss finished third, one-and-a-half length behind, while bay Tharkyee completed the frame.

Owned by Gul Mohammad Rajar and trained by Mushtaq Ali Khan, the colt was ridden home by M. Nasir who shone in the saddle with a double.

Earlier, the jockey powered bay Jawan Bakht to three-and-a-half lengths victory over Lucky Step Junior in the sixth race.

Five-year-old bay Arab Hi Arab with Tariq Baran astride made amends when he overtook Jack In The Box in a late burst to claim supporting event. Chestnut Sharp Cat secured second place pushing Jack In The Box to third. Red Rufus completed the frame.

Rider Ghulam Shabbir II piloted favourites Bewitched and Hal Chal in back-to-back wins to share honours with his contemporary Nasir. The brace of winners were sent by trainer Ehtisham.

Syed Ismail Shah’s Bewitched beat King Of The Ring by two lengths to make it two on trot. Similarly, it was colt Hal Chal’s second successive win as he outpaced Powerful Gambler by five lengths.

Benish Hasan’s filly Hi Darling pulled off an upset when she registered her first win of the year, beating Hamza Joy by three lengths. Favourite Ghoroghantal had to be content with fourth place.

Another surprise was in store for the punters when mare Sonia made it two in-a-row leaving joint favourites Lucky Gem and Al Zarrar behind.

of M.R. Hussain ran away

with the fifth race to post

maiden win on his debut. Favourite Lava Man finished four lengths behind to secure second place.
