HYDERABAD, June 3: The chairman of Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STP) and a leader of Sindh National Front (SNF) have said that the rulers had deprived Sindhis of their right of sovereignty and endangered peace by handing over the province’s affairs to an ethnic group.
The SNF leader, Ameer Bux Bhutto, called on STP chairman Dr Qadir Magsi to extend a formal invitation to the party’s "Sindhi Jago Sindh Bachayo Campaign" at Taraqqi Pasand House on Saturday.
The two leaders discussed the political situation obtaining in the country and agreed that the terrorists had held all the government departments hostage making the life and property of people insecure.
They said that Sindhis had been pushed against the wall and the MQM was plundering the resources of the province with the blessings of Gen Pervez Musharraf and the establishment.
They held the MQM responsible for May 12 killings in Karachi and stressed the need for unity of Sindhis.
Mr Bhutto invited Dr Qadir Magsi to the All-Party Conference to be convened by the SNF. SNF Secretary General Gul Mohammad Jakhrani, Ayoub Shar, Abdul Latif Bughio and STP office-bearers also attended the meeting.
SNP: The Sindh National Party at a meeting held at the National House Qasimabad on Saturday decided to stage a "Caravan-i-Sindh" in Karachi on June 8 which would pass through more than 1,000 villages before arriving in Karachi.
The SNF meeting chaired by Ameer Bhambhro held the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) responsible for May 12 killings in Karachi and termed the tragedy a conspiracy to instigate ethnic riots. The meeting also decided to hold a public meeting in Badin on June 15.
Mr Bhambhro said that Sindhis living in Karachi were feeling more insecure after May 12. The basic idea behind Caravan-i-Sindh was to create awakening among Sindhis living in Karachi, he said and appealed to Sindhis to shift their homes to Karachi.
He demanded that all the outsiders who had entered Sindh after 1954 should be repatriated to their own counties.
