Preferences ahead of budget


MULTAN, June 2: City District Nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar says that in the coming budget Rs500 million will be spent on the construction and extension/widening of 21 roads in Multan while each union council will get Rs1.5 million for the provision of electricity.

Presiding over a meeting regarding the preparation of next budget here on Saturday, he said that three veterinary dispensaries would be upgraded as veterinary hospitals while a new veterinary hospital would be constructed in Bucha Gawala Colony at a cost of Rs16 million.

He said the BC Chowk road, Nalawali Muhammad Road, road from Mumtazabad Phatak to Allah Wasaya Chowk, Sui Gas Road, Hazuri Bagh Road, Humayon Road, TB Hospital Road, Taimoor Road, road From MDA to Rajwana, road from Eidgah to Nishtar, road from Ghareebabad to Farooq Town, road from Grass Mandi to Ghareebabad, remaining part of Bait Kaich and construction plan of Rasoolpur would be included in the new year development plan.

He approved the upgradation of veterinary dispensaries of Hamidpur Kanwra, Bosan and Makhdoom Rasheed at a cost of Rs8.4 million and announced another sum of Rs 7.5 million for a new veterinary hospital in Bucha Gawala Colony.

He said that as Multan had a big fish market, a diagnostic laboratory would be built to analyze the samples of water and soil for fish farms.

The district nazim ordered the completion of under-constructed multi-purpose hall in the Bosan Road College.

EDO Finance and Planning Javed Iqbal told the meeting that 399 vacancies would be created in the new budget. He said 289 vacancies would be for Fatima Jinnah Hospital, 86 for General Bus Stand, 15 for special education and eight for municipal services. — Staff Correspondent
