Two killed in encounter

By Our Correspondent

LAKKI MARWAT, June 2: Two alleged absconders were killed in an encounter with police on Saturday. The police opened fire at the outlaws after they had hurled a hand-grenade on a union council nazim’s vehicle in village Azarkhel, some 45 kilometres from here, officials said.

Three people were injured in the grenade attack.

The police said that the outlaws, Noor Aslam and Fazl Rahim sons of Masti Khan, hurled a hand-grenade at the vehicle of the nazim union council Darra Pezu, Aslam Khan. The vehicle was parked outside a guest house.

The grenade exploded with a bang injuring three people, who were identified as Amir Ahmad, Naimatullah and Sher Nawaz.

The police said the outlaws had an old enmity with a villager who had organised a party for the nazim. After the attack, a heavy contingent of police chased the alleged outlaws and besieged their hideout near Azerkhel village.

The police said the outlaws started firing and hurled two hand-grenades. The police fired back and killed them.
