QUETTA, June 2: A two-day provincial conference and national congress of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) began here on Saturday to elect new office bearers and determine policies pertaining to the current political issues, problems faced by Pakhtuns in general and the subversive acts in Afghanistan.

The conference was held at the Ayub stadium and councillors, including the PMAP chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, attended the deliberations.

A PMAP spokesman said that in Saturday’s session, the councillors would elect the body for ‘Southern Pakhtunkhwa’ and on Sunday the delegates from Southern and Northern Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh would choose the office bearers of PMAP’s central body.

Delegations from Peshawar, Swat, Bannu, Zhob, Loralai, Pishin, Ziarat and Chaman apart from Karachi arrived here to attend the conference.

The spokesman added that Chief of Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Chairperson of Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan and Pakhtun Ittehad Karachi representatives would address the public meeting in Quetta on Monday.
