THATTA, May 29: An adviser to the chief minister of Sindh has occupied a piece of Makli graveyard land by constructing an Otaq (guest house).
The land, spread over approximately an acre, has been carved out after demolishing graves, a visit to the site revealed. The structure of the Otaq, lying at a distance from Makli grid station, is erected near the tomb of Miran Shah.
To facilitate journey to the newly-built Otaq, the influential politician of the ruling coalition has got a two-kilometre metalled road constructed.
The encroachment by the adviser to the chief minister has encouraged members of the land mafia, who had been eying the precious Makli graveyard land for years.
Writers of Thatta have demanded mmediate removal of the encroachment.
