HRCP assails ban on Imran

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 28: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan on Monday condemned the orders of the Sindh government banning Imran Khan, head of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf, from entering Sindh for one month.

“The externment order violates several fundamental rights guaranteed under the constitution, including the freedom of movement,” said Zohra Yusuf, provincial vice-chairperson of the HRCP in a statement.

She said: “It is regrettable that rather than taking action on the threats periodically hurled by members of the MQM, a coalition partner in the provincial government, the Sindh home department has chosen to ban Mr Khan's entry into Sindh.”
