LAHORE, May 25: A major part of the ongoing specialisation coaching camp has been wasted due to ill-planning made by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as the players could not get proper training from Wasim Akram.

The camp started on May 17 to continue till June 3. In all, 23 bowlers and 13 openers were selected to get training from Wasim, Aaqib Javed and Mudassar Nazar.

But as several fast bowlers like Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Mohammad Sami and some junior bowlers were not available for the camp due to the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi (May 18-22) and trials for the Pakistan Under-19s’ selection for the forthcoming tour of England, (May 15-19), Wasim found only a few bowlers to train them.

Later, Wasim also left the camp on May 20. On Friday, all the bowlers had joined the camp but now Wasim was missing.

Wasim is in Karachi and he is likely to join the camp from Monday, means he will impart training to the pacemen only for a week.
