LAHORE, May 22: Three-year-old bay filly Janu with her present form should win the feature event when a card of five events of the Lahore Gymkhana Midweek Day/Night races goes at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

Janu is contesting in the Bahawal Nagar Plate, a class-five division-II handicap race, played over sprinting distance of 900 metres.

Owned by former hockey player Munir Ahmad Dar, Janu was closely beaten by Born To Win on her last outing.

Janu who is a progeny of Bedouine Invader out-of-Fantastic Cute might face competition by Ferrari, Safe And Sound and Sign Of Success.

This will be the fifth and the last race of the day to be contested by 17 runners, barring last-minute withdrawal.

Crystal Heart, Shah Pari and Princess Afaq are the pick of the ten horses drawn for the fourth and supporting event, the Multan Plate class-VII Division-I to be contested over 900 metres.

After registering a fluent win upsetting all calculations on May 2, Crystal Heart ran disappointingly to finish off the frame on her previous outing. She was backed by her connections but her performance had left a big question mark.

If Crystal Heart runs green again, Princess Afaq, Shah Pari and Lucky Star should fight for the spoils in this race.

In the third race, four-year-old filly Tosca who had been beaten in her last outing should make amends.

Royal Palace, Sun Ray and Blu's Wendy should fight for a place on the board.

The first two races belong to the two lower divisions of the class-seven. They are constituted with animals whose pedigrees are not known. The Lahore Race Club Riding School will utilise these races to train young budding riders.

The participation of these unknown animals had been stopped by the LRC due to their inconsistent performances. However, they were allowed to run only because of acute shortage of runners.

Queen Of Gold, Mosaic and Murad The Great should fight for the winner's enclosure in the second race.

The first race looks an open affair with ten runners having no credentials. It will start at 5:30pm.

All the races will be held over 900 metres.
