KABUL: Taliban militants released on Friday a French aid worker kidnapped more than five weeks ago and said they would decide later on the fate of his three Afghan co-workers.
Eric Damfreville was handed to tribal elders in the southern province of Kandahar and then to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Taliban spokesman Yousuf Ahmadi said.
ICRC deputy head of delegation in Afghanistan, Franz Rauchenstein, said in Kabul the Terre d'Enfance (A World For Our Children) aid worker was handed to French authorities at Kandahar airport.
