Pakistan, Iran agree to speed up IPI project

RIYADH, May 3: Pakistan and Iran have agreed to accelerate the pace of work on Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project.

This was stated in a meeting on the sidelines of the second Asian Energy Ministerial Roundtable conference between Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon and Iranian Oil Minister Seyed Kazem Viziri Hamaneh here on Thursday.

Both the ministers said they were satisfied over the project’s progress, adding that its early implementation would benefit the entire region.

Both sides agreed that there was a lot of potential for expanding the level of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on exploring other avenues of cooperation, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

Iranian Oil Minister Seyed Kazam Viziri Hamaneh said that quick implementation of the project would promote regional peace and prosperity.
