Pakistan win convincingly against Iran

LAHORE, April 29: Pakistan carved out an impressive 5-0 win against Iran in the first Test match of triangular series at the Government Science College on Saturday night.

In the first singles, Pakistan No.1 Wajid Ali took one hour to beat Ali Shah Husseni 21-18, 17-21, 24-22 (reported in Sunday’s edition).

In the second singles, Umer Zeeshan doubled the lead by defeating Gholam Reza 23-21, 17-21, 21-14.

Pakistan's pair of Rizwan Azam and Mohammad Attiq, however, faced rather easy situation and beat Iranian pair of Gholam Bageri and Jalal Eskandri 21-15, 21-10.

In the second doubles, Tahir Ishaq and Rizwan Rana had to face tough challenge against Ali Shah Husseni and Karamy. They however came out triumphant with 21-19, 22-24, 23-21 score.

In the last singles, national champion Ahsan Qamar sealed the fate of the Test by winning against Jalal Eskandri with score of 21-15, 18-21, 22-20.
