Taxi driver shot dead

KASUR, April 28: Two dacoits shot dead a taxi driver on resistance and drove away with the vehicle here on Saturday at Jodh Singh village in Pattoki police precincts.

Reports said Muhammad Ashiq ran rent-a-car business at Raiwind. On Saturday, two unidentified men rented his car for Pattoki. Near Habibabad stop, the accused asked the driver to leave the vehicle. They shot him dead on resistance and drove away with the vehicle.

Pattoki police have registered a case and are investigating.

CASE FILED: The Kasur circle of anti-corruption establishment on Saturday registered a case against a Pattoki TMA tax inspector on charges of corruption.

Reports said inspector Zulfiqar had allegedly embezzled a sum of Rs0.36 million under the head of property tax.

The case has been registered on the report of tehsil officer (finance) Abdul Ghaffar.

LIQUOR SEIZED: Allahabad police claimed on Saturday to have arrested a drug pusher and recovered 70 litre liquor from his possession.

Reports said Muhammad Pervez of Khokhar Beig was carrying a bag on his cycle. Near a local canal bridge, the police stopped him and recovered liquor from his possession.
