By Tariq Saeed

TOBA TEK SINGH, April 24: Arrouti police and residents of the area were searching on Tuesday for the pieces of the body of a 15-year-old girl who was axed to death by her uncle in the name of honour in Mauza Chah Mirali Wala, some 50 kilometres from here near Head Sidhnai, on March 29.

According to police, Shahida Zahoor of Chak 17 BR, Khanewal, was living with her uncles Zawar Bhatti and

Lal Bhatti in Chah Mirali

Wala from where she eloped with a youth of the locality to marry him about three months ago. She was brought back through panchayat a few days later.

On March 29, her uncle Zawar took her from his house saying that he would take her to her parents’ home.

He axed her to death on way on the banks of river Ravi, cut his body into pieces and threw them into the river.

He returned to his home after seven days and told his brother Lal that he stayed with their brother Zahoor, the girl’s father.

A few days later, Lal came to know that Zawar had not gone to Zahoor’s house and the girl was also not there.

Lal and other family members forced Zawar to inform them of the whereabouts of the girl and on their insistence he told them the truth.

Lal registered a murder case against him on April 19.

Police have recovered the axe but could not recover a single piece of the girl’s body.

The incident shocked residents of the area.
