QUETTA, April 23: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court on Monday ordered the Chagai police to release a man who had completed his detention period under the MPO 3. The bench comprises Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani.

Petitioner Mohammad Ghous, a supporter of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal), said in his application that he had been kept in illegal custody even though he had completed his detention period on April 18.

Police had earlier released Mahmood Jan and Junaid Ahmed who had been arrested along with the petitioner.

In another case, the bench ordered to issue notices to the federal interior secretary, provincial home secretary, Quetta CCPO, SHO Sariab police station and advocate-general of Balochistan on a petition filed against arrest of two people by an intelligence agency.

The petitioner, Wali Mohammad, said that Akhtar Mohammad and Wali Khan had been arrested by intelligence personnel in Musa colony on March 27.

The petitioner said that family members had approached the authorities concerned, but their whereabouts is still not known.

The court adjourned the hearing till May 15.
