Northern Areas peace jirga backed

GILGIT, April 23: Northern Areas Chief Secretary Qamarul Zaman has reiterated the government’s full support to Grand Peace Jirga, saying its recommendations for sustainable peace in the area would be given due importance.

Speaking to members of the jirga here, the chief secretary said it had contributed remarkably towards peace and promotion of brotherhood in the area.

He directed the deputy commissioner to ensure that the Jirga got the required support for maintaining peace.

The chief of the jirga, Northern Areas Legislative Council Speaker Malik Mohammad Miskeen also spoke.—APP
