KARACHI, April 23: The Awami National Party leaders have pledged that they would never succumb to the pressures of the rulers and continue the struggle for the rights of Pakhtuns.

The ANP leaders, who addressed two separate meetings in the city, warned Pakhtuns about conspiracies being hatched to usurp their resources.

The meetings held at UC-3 Sherpao Colony and UC-4 Zafar Town of Landhi were addressed by ANP Sindh chief Shahi Syed and general secretary Amin Khattak.

Mr Shahi said Pakhtuns were being suppressed and treated as third grade citizens. He said, “We are struggling for our honour and survival and would in no way compromise on our identity and rights.”

He said the ANP would continue to fight for the rights of Pakhtuns.

The ANP leader urged the people to forge unity in their ranks as true followers of Bacha Khan, otherwise they would lose their identity.

Expressing concern over the Waziristan situation, Amin Khattak said a medical college had been closed in Tank.

Women were not being allowed to get their children administered polio drops and children were not allowed to get education in Lucky Marwat, Banu and Swat, where extremism was being propagated.

Mr Khattak warned the rulers in Islamabad to stop hatching conspiracies against Pakhtuns. He urged people to forge unity and wage struggle for their rights.
