DERA GHAZI KHAN, April 22: Twenty-five sacked revenue officials or patwaris have moved court against their removal by the Punjab Revenue Board.
These patwaris were serving their duties on the direction of the deputy district officer (revenue).
Justice Hasnat of the Lahore High Court, Multan bench, will hear the case.
The posts of patwaris were advertised in 2004 and 2006 but appointments were made on March 30, 2007, by a representative board headed by District Coordination Officer Iram Bokhari.
NO SALARIES: Newly-appointed public prosecutors in Punjab will get their salaries after the approval of next budget as these posts were not sanctioned in the 2006-2007 budget, according to sources.
The government appointed lawyers as public prosecutors in every district to weaken anti-government protests by lawyers after a presidential reference against Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
In Dera Ghazi Khan, 17 lawyers were appointed public prosecutor after they did not join protests by the District Bar Association.
