Shifting of school opposed

By Our Correspondent

LAKKI MARWAT, April 22: People of Haqdad Abad, Ghafoor Abad and Umarabad (Graban) localities in the city have opposed a plan of the local authorities to shift a primary school to a far-off place.

The residents of the localities in a meeting on Sunday formed a committee to discuss the issue with the executive district officer of schools and literacy department. They demanded the construction of the school building in Haqdad Abad.

It may be mentioned that the government has sanctioned Rs1.459 million for the construction of the Government Primary School No 1, Haqdad Abad, after declaring the school shelter-less. The school has been functioning in an old rented-building since 1980.

They said the construction of school building in a far-off area was tantamount to deprive more than 300 students of their education.

“The innocent and minor students can not attend a school situated in a far flung area," they said, adding that the fund allocated for the school in Haqdad Abad could not be used elsewhere.
