Selectors to name probables for April 28 training camp

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, April 21: The national cricket selection committee will announce 30-plus probables on Sunday for the training camp scheduled to commence in Lahore from April 28. The camp is being held to select Pakistan team for the forthcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka to be held in Abu Dhabi from May 10.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had originally decided to call 30 probables in the camp but the selection committee, headed by Salahuddin Ahmad which held its first meeting at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday, will now invite more than 30 players.

"As the selection committee considered a good number of players in its marathon meeting on Saturday, we have decided to have a look at the form and fitness of maximum number of players,” Salahuddin ‘Sallu’ told Dawn after the meeting.

He said the selectors would also consider the performance of those players who are currently on Bangladesh tour with Pakistan Academy team and some prominent could also be included in the list.

He said the selectors also have to receive availability of three players, currently playing county cricket in England, by Sunday so that it would be in a position to release the names on the same day.
