Cash, gold looted

LAHORE, April 21: Three robbers took away cash and jewellery worth over Rs1 million in Ghaziabad area here on Saturday.

Police said the dacoits burst into a house owned by Muhammad Nabeel near a banquet hall in New Canal Park phase II and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint. They collected Rs100,000 in cash, 62-tola jewellery and other valuables and escaped.

Some robbers barged into a double-storey house owned by PIA contractor Alauddin in Baghbanpura, broke open three locks and took away, 1,350 British pounds, Rs70,000, gold ornaments and a wrist watch.

Alauddin told this reporter by phone that the robbers came to his upper-storey after jumping the adjacent wall and at the time of the incident, women family members were busy in Milaad at the ground floor.

No case was registered till the filing of the report.

Four bandits looted a family at a graveyard in broad daylight in Johar Town area.

Usman, his sister and three nephews, residents of J-block, came at the F-block graveyard to offer fateha. In the meantime, four robbers, two of them armed with pistols, held the family at gunpoint and made off with Rs22,000, two cell phones and valuables.

Johar Town police did not register the case till the filing of the report.

Two gun-totting people stopped Sohail, employee of a medicine company, near a drain in Model Town and snatched cash in thousands. —Staff Reporter
