Disaster management bill okayed

ISLAMABAD, April 19: A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat on Thursday unanimously passed the national disaster management bill after incorporating an amendment in its clause 4.

The amendment was proposed by Ms Samia Raheel Qazi, MNA which says the meeting of the National Commission will be held twice a year.

According to a press release issued here the Committee examined the bill clause by clause.

The Executive Director gave a briefing on the Frequency Allocation Board (FAB). He informed the Committee that FAB was created under Pakistan Telecommunications (Re-organization) Act, 1996 to take over the functions being performed by Pakistan Wireless Board under Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation.

He also described the major roles and functions of FAB like planning/management of spectrum, monitoring of entire frequency spectrum and its analysis and national and international coordination.

The committee deferred the briefing and directed that it would be revised in the next meeting. Malik Allah Yar Khan, Raja Mohammad Asad Khan, Miss Onaza Ehsan, Rehman Naseer Chaudhary, Abdul Mujeeb Pirzada, Mrs Bushra Rehman, Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Alam Anwar, Muhammad Faiz Tamman and Dr Sher Afgan Khan Niazi, Minister in-charge of Cabinet Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
