PCB reinstates lower-grade employees

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, April 18: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reinstated all lower-grade employees who were sacked here on Monday, a PCB spokesman announced on Wednesday.

"The PCB chairman has taken the decision of reinstatement on purely humanitarian grounds but the decision of sacking 11 high-ranking officials will stand," the spokesman said.

Two days ago, the PCB had sacked 80 employees including 69 working in the lower cadre and 11 high-ranking officials.

The spokesman further said all the sacked employees were working either on contractual basis or daily wages and their new contracts would be signed soon without any break in their services.

Earlier in the day, a majority of the sacked employees gathered at the PCB offices upon chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf’s arrival, demanding immediate restoration of services. The chairman assured them that he would do his best for them after considering their case.

Meanwhile, the PCB also announced that there was no plan for further retrenchment in the board. According to sources in the board, the sacked 11 officials were preparing to move the court against PCB.
