Two boys drown in Ravi

LAHORE, April 18: Two teenagers drowned in the river Ravi on Wednesday. Police said friends Ejaz Ahmad, 15, and Yasar, 14, of Shahdara, turned up at the river for bathing to beat the heat. They drowned shortly after jumping into the river.

Divers fished out their bodies after hectic search and the police handed them over to their families.

INJURIES: Four people, including a woman, sustained injuries when five people opened fire on them over a minor issue in Misri Shah on Wednesday.

Police said accused Tayab had had a grudge against Noman Asghar after a minor issue. Tayab, along with four accomplices, opened indiscriminate fire as a result of which Shahbaz, Suhail, Noman and Bushra suffered injuries.

The attackers fled from the scene while the injured were rushed to hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

gangs busted: Kahna and Kot Lakhpat police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested nine members of two gangs and recovered looted valuables and illegal weapons from their possession.

The accused have confessed to committing 34 crimes, including dacoity, robbery and street crime.

A team, constituted by the Kot Lakhpat SP, nabbed Irfan alias Boby, Ansar Ali, Mushtaq and Javed of Boby gang. The police recovered a motorcycle, 15 cell phones, jewellery worth Rs100,000, and other valuables besides illegal weapons from them.

Another team, constituted by the Kot Lakhpat SP and led by the Green Town circle SPO, arrested Ishtiaq alias Jaggi, Waqas, Irfan, Yasin and Salim of Jaggi gang.
