MANSEHRA, April 18: Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority Deputy Chairman Lt-Gen Nadeem Ahmed has said that Erra is working to rehabilitate quake-affected people in the NWFP at the earliest.

Inaugurating the newly-constructed quake-resistant building of the government higher secondary school in Garhi Habibullah, some 30 kilometres from here on Wednesday, he said: “Our prime job is to rehabilitate and reconstruct the quake-hit people as well as the areas.”

The school building collapsed in the October 8, 2005, earthquake and was reconstructed in collaboration with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipal Corporation of Turkey.

Vice-President of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipal Corporation Arman Tanja and District Nazim Sardar Yousaf were also present.

Mr Ahmed thanked the Turkish government for its support to rebuild the school.
