LAHORE, April 17: Three-goal Taimur Mawaz Khan guided Lahore Polo Club (LPC) to a 5-3 win against Jaipur Polo Club, India (JPC) in the first match of the three-match series on Tuesday.
Taimur, a two-goal seasoned player, drew first blood converting a field attempt as LPC led the first chukker 1-0.
Taimur again came to rescue LPC making it 2-2 in the second chukker after the visitors had staged a comeback taking 2-1 lead.
Ransher Singh had made it 1-1 in the start of the chukker, while Abbimanyu Patak converted a 40-yard penalty hit to give the visitor the slim lead. But Taimur fired his second goal, cashing in on a field attempt after a long chase of ball to be on even keel.
Consistently struggling, Taimur again salvaged the lead (3-2) scoring his third, which was the solitary goal of the third chukker.
This time Taimur converted a 30-yard penalty hit.
The fourth chukker saw LPC consolidate the lead when two-goal Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana pumped in his first to make it 4-2, crowning a field attempt. But soon Ransher blasted home with his second goal to reduce the margin 4-3. Minutes later, Ahmad was again on the target, capitalising a 40-yard penalty hit to complete the tally.
