14 killed as bus falls into ravine

GILGIT, April 14: Fourteen people were killed and 11 others seriously injured when a bus fell into a deep ravine near Sazin village in Diamer district at around 8am on Saturday.

The injured, including three women, were shifted to the Chilas DHQ hospital where the condition of one was said to be critical.

The ill-fated bus (PRN-5543) was operated by the Karakoram Travels.

Police and heirs identified the dead as Ms Jannat Khan, Amanullah, Abuzar and Obaidullah (all residents of Darel and members of one family), the mother of Fazal from Darel, Waheed Ahmed from Balakot, Muhammad Riaz and Muhammad Ghulam from Tangir valley in Diamer, Ibrar from Mansehra, Muhammad Ikram and his wife from Astore district, Waqas and the bus driver Naveed from Abbottabad.
