KARACHI, April 14: Eight ships carrying containers, general cargo and crude oil are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Sunday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was slow where three ships, Corin Thaikos, Orient Independence to unload and load containers and Pacific Arrow to load cement were berthed after the departure of seven.

The ships, which departed included Conti Esperance, Calvin P. Titus, Asian Queen, Rickmer Doha, Nyzdan, Benarita, Lalazar and B.W. Captain, while Shalamar, Asian Leader after unloading 1,100 cars, Reliance Ocean, Orient Independence, Bunga Terasek, Iran Baabaei and Corin Thaikos are due to sail out on Sunday.

Owing to larger handling of liquid cargo, total tonnage rose to 0.119m tons comprising 26,786 tons of export cargo including 3,453 tons of cement and 133 tons of wheat and 91,949 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Sunday: Johar with crude oil, Amasis, MOL Ability, Gallant Wave and Jade Trader with containers, Westward Venture to load project cargo, Lynx with general cargo and Bsie Prestige with steel consignment.The following are due on Monday: Lauren with chemicals and Gulg Bridge, with containers.
