RAWALPINDI, April 13: Three persons including a woman were killed in separate incidents, while the body of a missing midwife was also found in the city on Friday. Abdul Khaliq was on his way home when a speeding car knocked him down and sped away near Kutchery Chowk. He died on the spot.
Qamar Fiaz was killed after being run over by a taxi in the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines area.
The Chontra police said a woman, Arab Sultan, was killed when her brother’s pistol went off accidentally as she cleaned it.
The body of a midwife working at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) was found crammed in a cotton sack lying in Tench Bhatta on Friday, the police said.
The deceased, Parveen Akhtar, went missing on Thursday after she left the hospital.
After waiting for a long time, Parveen’s husband, Munir Ahmed, who is an employee at CMT Golra depot, started a search for her and spotted a sack lying along the roadside. As he opened the sack, Mr Ahmed found the body of his wife.
Superintendent of Police Yasin Farooq, when contacted, told Dawn that preliminary investigation suggested that the woman had been strangulated and thrown by the road.
The SP said nothing was found from the sack that could help the police trace the killers and ascertain the motive behind the murder.
