KARACHI, April 13: The Sindh High Court has barred the construction of a petrol and gas station in a residential area of the PECHS pending a suit instituted by some of its residents.
The plaintiffs submitted through Advocate M. Zahid Khan that the owner of plot 140-A, Block 2, PECHS, intended to set up a CNG and petrol station despite the fact that except for two schools for children, the block was a residential area. The plot intended to be used as petrol pump was in the vicinity of an apartment-office complex, which housed about 100 people, and a school with 300 students. It posed a threat to the entire neighborhood.
The city district government and the Karachi Building Control Authority have sanctioned the petrol pump without inviting objections from the residents and in disregard of their vested rights.
Issuing notices to the defendant owner, the CDG, the KBCA and other defendants for April 24, Justice Maqbool Baqar passed an interim order against the construction of the proposed petrol pump in the meantime. —Staff Reporter
