KARACHI, April 13: The CID police smashed on Friday a gang of forgers involved in the business of fake computerised driving licenses and arrested its four members, who included three police officials.

The officials said the suspects were identified as Sub-inspector Saeed Ahmed s/o Allah Ditta and Head Constable Mumtaz Ali s/o Ghulam Abbas of traffic police, HC Shakeel Ahmed s/o Bashir Ahmed of Sindh Reserve Police, and Mohammed Insha Bukhari s/o Shamsuddin.

They said CID SSP Raja Umer Khattab on a tip-off formed a special team who arrested the suspects and seized from them two computers, a plastic card printer and 80 fake driving licenses.

The officials said the gang comprised 14 members and it had prepared thousands of fake driving licenses.

They said 10 members of the gang were still at large and the CID was making efforts to track them down.

The officials said the other members of the gang were Akbar, a former police constable, his wife Shumaila, Malik Yaqoob, Ahmed, Sarfaraz, Hamayoon, Baba, Aftab Ali alias Zulfi alias Piya, Shakeel and Sahib Khan.

The CID police advised people not to give their photographs to anyone for obtaining computerised driving license.
