Notices issued in missing Baloch leader’s case

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, April 11: The Larkana circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the secretary of defence, Sindh home secretary, inspector general of police and DPO of Jacobabad over the disappearance of a Baloch leader Rafique Ahmed Khoso who was member of central organising committee of Jhamoori Watan Party.

Rafique’s brother, Fida Hussain Khoso, filed a constitutional petition through his counsel Asif Abdul Razzak Soomro in the court where it came up for hearing before Justice Munib Ahmed Khan.

The petitioner said that some members of law-enforcing agencies in plain clothes on picked up his brothers on April 4 from the office of Blue Lines coach in Jacobabad when he was going to attend JWP’s meeting scheduled for April 5 in Karachi and took him to an unknown place.

He said that the family approached police and higher authorities to secure release of their loved one but all in vain. His brother had been abducted and put in illegal detention due to political reasons as he occupied important position among Baloch leadership and was active reforming his political party, he said.

He said that Rafique Khoso was bitterly opposed to Balochistan operation and supporting political victims and illegal detainees.

The respondents had failed to show the arrest and detention of Rafique Khoso and the family and party members were worried about his life. There was strong possibility he might have been subjected to torture or killed, the petitioner said.

He prayed the court to direct the respondents to produce Rafique Ahmed Khoso in court, record his statement and set him at liberty.

CMC: The principal of Chandka Medical College (CMC) Larkana announced on Wednesday that classes for the new third year of MBBS (2004-2005) batch-33 would start from Monday April 16.
