KHAIRPUR, April 9: Activists of Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto) including women and children staged a demonstration outside the press club and observed a token hunger strike on the Court Road on Monday against police’ raid on their homes and arrest of relatives.
PPP-SB leaders Mushtaq Sarki, Shabbir Ujjan, Naib Ali Shar and Manzoor Hussain told journalists that Khuhra police accompanied by some private persons raided the house of Manzoor Hussain, secretary of PPP-SB youth wing and Zamir Hussain, a party activist two days ago. They arrested Zamir Hussain and Manzoor Hussain in the raid and manhandled female members and children of their families, they said.
They alleged that police also took away dowry of a girl Ghulam Sughra.
Manzoor Hussain said that the police subjected him to severe torture and released him next day but his cousin Zamir Hussain was still in their custody.
They alleged that the families whose house police raided had a dispute over some property in Massan Mohalla of Gambat with some influential persons who were also present at the raid.
