TANK, April 9: A remote-controlled device went off on a road near Ranwal when a German doctor and his family were passing through the area on Monday, officials and witnesses said. They said that Dr Welton, his wife and two children, escorted by a police mobile, were in a vehicle and going from Dera Ismail Khan to the Christian hospital in Tank.

The device exploded just before the police mobile reached there.

The blast occurred at the same place where two FC personnel were injured in a similar explosion on Sunday.

The Tank city police registered a case against unidentified assailants and started investigation.
