‘Islam doesn’t allow vilification’

ISLAMABAD, April 9: Tourism Minister Nilofar Bakhtiar has said that Islam does not allow vilification or casting aspersions on anyone without verifying facts. Commenting on a decree issued from Lal Masjid against her, she said on Monday that the self-styled court had not bothered to verify facts and issued the so-called Fatwa without any basis.

Talking to reporters at a poster competition at the Islamabad traffic police office, the minister said human rights organisations and some political leaders, including PPP information secretary Sherry Rehman, had spoken in her support.—APP
