DADU, April 9: The father of Head Constable Qalandar Bux Gopang, who was killed in a clash between two groups of Gopang clan a few days ago in Qasimabad village, on Monday threatened to commit suicide if police did not arrest his son’s killers.

Madad Ali and Nazar Ali, brother and father, respectively, of the slain cop, who led a demonstration outside the press club demanded that the police arrest immediately Dodo Gopang and Khurram nominated in the murder case.

They alleged that police, themselves, were protecting the accused Dodo Gopang because he was an accountant of SP investigation.

Mr Madad Ali alleged that his brother was killed after he sent proofs of Dodo’s corruption to DIG Hyderabad.

PROTEST: A large number of farmers from Hashim Lund and Andal Panhwar villages staged a demonstration on Monday on the link road to Zamzama Camp No.5, operated by the BHP Billiton, oil and gas company, in protest against the company’s failure to pay them compensation for land utilisation.

Mohammad Essa Lund who led the protest said that the company did not pay him compensate him for laying a pipeline 10 feet deep across his land to supply gas to other towns from Zamzama camp. In the course of excavation for the pipeline they also damaged standing wheat on 15 acres, he said.

A grower Mumtaz Lund said that they would block the link road if the company did not pay them compensation.

Three villagers Bashir Panhwar, Ghulam Hussain Panhwar and Shaman Lund said that the company had not even paid them three months salary for their services as watchmen at the pipeline.
