Arrest of MNA condemned

ISLAMABAD, April 6: Parliamentarian Commissions for Human Rights (PCHR) has strongly condemned the arrest of MNA Khawaja Saad Rafique and demanded his release. “The detention of Khwaja Saad Rafique is clear violation of his fundamental freedoms of liberty, movement, speech and expression,” the members of the PCHR said in a special meeting.

The meeting of Parliamentarian Commissions for Human Rights which was attended by executives of PCHR including Chairman PCHR

Mr Riaz Fatyana, MNA, Executive Director PCHR Ms Kashmala Tariq, MNA, Dr Farid Paracha MNA, Mr Abdul Mujeeb Pirzada MNA.

Khawaja Saad Rafique MNA who is also a member of the PCHR has been arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.

Khawaja Saad Rafique member of National Assembly is accused of activities prejudicial to public safety and maintenance of public order.

While many other protesters who were detained during recent days have been released, he is still languishing in Mianwali Jail.

Members expressed their dissatisfaction over this and declared that there is no justification in keeping him behind the bars when many others have been released.
