KARACHI: ST’s public meeting on 7th

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 5: The Sunni Tehreek on Thursday said that a public meeting to pay homage to those killed in Nishtar Park bomb blast last year is being organised at Kakri Ground on April 7.

Speaking at a press conference at the party head office, the ST leaders — Shahid Ghauri, Shakeel Qadri and Abdul Rehman — said that though the ST wanted to organise the meeting at Nishtar Park, the permission was not granted and now the administration had given permission to hold the meeting at Kakri Ground.

They also demanded foolproof security arrangements on the occasion. They also criticised the government on its failure to arrest the culprits involved in the last year’s bomb blast.

The ST leaders said that after the blast that claimed the lives of 63 Ulema, the ST did not resort to agitation and cooperated with the government so that investigations could be carried out and culprits were arrested.

They said that the ST had expressed its no confidence on the tribunal constituted by the provincial government and had demanded that investigations be carried out by federal agencies, but the demand was not accepted.

They said that the provincial government’s tribunal that investigated the issue had submitted its report within 62 days, but it was not being made public which created doubts in the minds of the people.

The ST leaders demanded that the report be made public and all those involved be arrested and punished according to law.
