MUZAFFARABAD, April 4: The Palandri Cadet College’s board of governors has enhanced the seats for students from 62 to 90, reserving for the first time two and six, respectively, for students from the Indian-held Kashmir and the Northern Areas.

The board’s 17th meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan also reserved five seats for overseas Kashmiri students, two each for Pakistani provinces and one for the federal capital territory. Five seats were created to be filled on open merit and three on self-financing basis.

It also decided that the deficit in the college’s revised budget, to the tune of Rs7.56 million, would be met from government’s grant. Additionally, over Rs13.57 million were sanctioned to waive the remainder of the fees of earthquake-affected students.

The meeting approved the award of scholarships to cadets on account of extraordinary performance in curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The meeting extended the service of Principal Mohammad Akbar for another three years.
