Petrol pump dispute claims seven lives

By Our Correspondent

HANGU, April 4: Seven people were killed when two rival groups clashed over the ownership of a petrol pump at the Doaba area here on Tuesday, officials and residents said.

They said that the fighting between the two rivals, Inam and Shabbir, started on Monday night and continued well into Tuesday. Both groups used weapons to attack one another.

Of the seven killed, five could be identified. Three fought for Inam and were identified as Ghameen, Mukhtiar and Jafar, while two were on the side of Shabbir and were identified as Zahoor and Ejaz.

Later, a heavy contingent of police arrived at the site to bring the situation under control.

Residents said that the exchange of fire continued for about 10 hours. They said that the elders of the Darsamand and Karbugha Sharif localities formed a jirga so as to make a compromise between the two groups.

They said that the disputed petrol pump was located on the Karbugha Road.

The Doaba police station has registered a case.
