KARACHI: Replacement of sewerage lines demanded

By A Reporter

KARACHI, April 3: Various roads in the city are inundated with sewage due to choked sewerage lines creating problems for shopkeepers, pedestrians and motorists.

It was observed that owing to choked sewerage lines on Shahrah-i-Liaquat, Moor Streets in Pakistan Chowk, Manghopir Road, Arambagh Road and Aga Khan Road near Sports Complex, sewage accumulated on roads had become a constant problem for the area residents, passers-by and shopkeepers.

Area people said maximum sewerage lines in down town were choked and due to the overflowing filthy water they were unable to walk.

They demanded replacement of the entire sewerage line along Shahrah-i-Liaquat.

Sanitary staff while busy to clear the line on Moor Street said the entire line had collapsed and required immediate replacement.

Overflowing sewage and water leakages have ruined a portion of the Manghopir Road from Valika Chowrangi to Valika Hospital.

Owing to negligence of the contractor the sewerage lines between Toori Bangash Colony and Raja Tanveer Colony have also choked.

Residents said despite their repeated complaints the problem persisted.
