KARACHI, April 3: The investigation report regarding the Nishtar Park bomb blast should be made public and all those involved in the gory incident be arrested immediately.

This was stated by the Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) leader Tariq Mehboob on Tuesday, who leading a delegation visited the houses of the religious scholars – Hafiz Taqi, Farid Kazmi, Faisal Nadeem, Faizan Qadri and others – who had died in the Nishtar Park bomb blast last year.

He said that the non-arrest of the culprits involved in the incident despite a lapse of over a year was a failure of the government and it should resign immediately.

The JUP leader said that those who were involved in the incident, wanted to stir chaos in the country by such activities.

He also demanded that the compensation announced by the president and prime minister for the victims of the bomb blast be paid to the heirs immediately.

RELEASE URGED: The JUP leaders – Siddiq Rathor, Shabbir Abu Talib, Qazi Noorani and others – have demanded that the JUP leader Allama Shabbir Hashmi be released immediately.

They said that Mr Hashmi was arrested for criticising the so-called Women Protection Act, which in fact was increasing and promoting vulgarity.

They said that on one hand General Musharraf claimed that he had a high-level of tolerance and on the other Ulema who opposed his law were being jailed.

They demanded that Allama Hashmi be released immediately and all the false cases registered against him be withdrawn. They also demanded the murderers of JUP Larkana leader Qari Niaz Ahmad be held immediately.
