Blast suspect granted bail

PESHAWAR, April 2: A local court on Monday granted bail to a resident of Quetta charged with exploding a device at a video market here. Judicial Magistrate Ahmad Iftikhar ordered the release of accused Sher Mohammad after furnishing two sureties of Rs80,000 each.

Three shops were damaged in the explosion on March 18 in the Gulshan CD Market on Kohat Road.

The complainant, Shoukat Ali, a watchman of the market, stated that a man had left some luggage saying that he would return after offering prayer but he did not return and the blast occurred, also injuring him. Later, police arrested the accused at the cantonment area.

Advocate Fakhre Alam Jhagra appeared for the accused and contended that he had been falsely implicated in the case. He said the watchman had stated that the suspect was 18 years old whereas the applicant was 45-50 years of age. Mr Jhagra contended that no identification parade of the applicant had been conducted. He said the accused was in the city for medical treatment. —Bureau Report
